What happened to the great TV show intros of yesteryear? Sure, it cut down on the actual show runtime but damnit if they weren’t cool. Nowadays you’re lucky if someone puts in the effort. You’re must likely going to get an intro scene then a quick title card like Breaking Bad. My favorite modern show intro, the one that shows the most effort, was Fringe. It wasn’t that the intro itself was groundbreaking but they changed it based on the episode or season. They changed the intros! Who does that? Someone who cares about their fans. One episode, set in 80s had a synth version of the track with entirely different graphics. It’s easy to give thanks to J.J. Abrams because I’m becoming a true fan of his (Fringe, Star Trek reboot now Star Wars).

The best, is the original season one intro for Wonder Woman. They killed the lyrics in later seasons. Converting it to just the a melody. The show intro had lyrics! You can’t beat that. (“Get us out from under, wonder woman”.) And it goes up a step at 0:51.  Music by Charles Fox with lyrics by Norman Gimbel. Buy it on Amazon.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman (audio mix is l on all the version on YouTube. Better mix below)

Just the audio below.

Six Million Dollar Man

Then there is the classic Six Million Dollar man. We have all sorts of NASA-like test-flight radio banter. Timpani beats for drama. Then awesome computer sounds. You need awesome computer sounds. The movies Alien and Aliens had great computer display sounds. Who though, decided that computer displays needed sounds. A genious, that’s who.

UFO

Then Gerry Anderson’s UFO. While the episodes of the two above don’t hold up to their intros in most cases. This show, like all of Gerry Anderson’s are just all so classic.
